Dr. Lamis Yehia was named the first place winner in the clinical category.
Lamis Yehia, PhD, postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Charis Eng, MD, PhD, was named the first place winner of Cleveland Clinic’s 2020 Lower Award in the clinical category.
Dr. William E. Lower, one of the founders of Cleveland Clinic, established this award with the purpose of encouraging original investigation and professional excellence in the preparation of scientific papers.
Dr. Yehia’s winning paper is entitled “Copy Number Variation and Clinical Outcomes in Patients with Germline PTEN Mutations.” Published in JAMA Network Open, the study indicates that copy number variations may act as genomic modifiers that influence the risk of autism spectrum disorder and/or developmental delay versus cancer risk in individuals with germline PTEN mutations.
